Objectifying these children affect the way potential adoptive parents view them and which children get adopted, thus giving them unequal opportunities to become accepted into a family. Objectifying can also affect the way the child views himself or herself and their worth later in life. They must be sensitive to this issue as prices are considered and set for adoption. In addition, with adoption being so costly and complicated many have turned to buying children illegally through the black market. According to Costello (1973), â€Å"Many persons wanting a child but unwilling to wait several years turn to the black or gray adoption market.
